Changing the filter in your HVAC system is a quick, cheap and easy way to prevent damage and improve HVAC efficiency. A clogged or dirty filter is one of the leading causes of HVAC system failure. A dirty filter also greatly decreases efficiency and cycles dust, pollen and mold throughout your home.

For your HVAC system to run efficiently it’s important to have proper airflow. When a filter is clogged, it greatly impedes this process and causes the system to run harder and more often. This creates more stress on the motor, which could result in costly repairs, or worse, the need to replace the whole system, as well as costing you more in heating and cooling. Not changing the filter in your air conditioner could cause dust accumulation, which can lead to ice buildup on the evaporator coils. When ice builds up on the coils they can crack or break, or the ice can block the drain openings leading to water damage.

Regularly replacing your filter will also increase HVAC efficiency by decreasing allergens such as dust, pollen, and mold in your home, which may cause you and your family to become sick. Proper maintenance of HVAC filters will eliminate buildup of these allergens on the filter which will not only accumulate through the filtration process but grow more as time progresses.

It is important to change your filters regularly to prevent high cost repairs and save money on your heating and cooling, and greatly improve HVAC efficiency.
