When temperatures start to increase in the Cleveland area, your home can get uncomfortable quickly. When you turn on your air conditioner and find that it won’t work, you are left with an uncomfortable, potentially unsafe home. Make sure that your A/C is working well by checking for these common A/C problems.

  • Improper maintenance: If you haven’t kept up with regular maintenance on your air conditioner it may get dirty. If the coils or air filter are clogged with debris, your unit will not work effectively, increasing operating costs and decreasing efficiency.
  • Low refrigerant levels: Without sufficient refrigerant, your air conditioner can’t cool the air in your home. If refrigerant is low, call a qualified technician to check for and repair any leaks, then have the refrigerant levels topped off.
  • Worn controls: Controls for the fan and compressor can wear out prematurely if the unit is turning on and off too frequently. This happens when you have a system the wrong size for your building. Have your electrical controls and connections checked by a professional at the start of the season.

Many of these common A/C problems can be avoided, but only if you pay attention to proper maintenance. At the start of the warm season, call a qualified technician to give your air conditioner a complete checkup, looking for these common A/C problems and fixing them before they cause costly damage.
