As a furnace gets older, it may make some unusual sounds. Dirty burners can lead to worse problems later down the road, so stop being worried about furnace noise and call a professional to clean and adjust the burners. When the burners are off, the furnace noise could be caused by a poorly adjusted pilot light. A quick adjustment by an experienced technician should have your furnace up and running again in no time.
  • Scraping: This noise probably means the motor bearings will give out soon. Continuing to run the furnace could cause serious problems. Shut off your furnace immediately and contact a professional.
