Choose Electricians Wisely to Ensure Long-term Safety and Reliability
When it comes time to hire an electrician—whether for an upgrade or safety check in your current house or when completing a new building project—it can be challenging to determine which local electrician to choose. Here are a few tips to help you vet electrical contractors and make the best choice for your project needs.
- Are they licensed, bonded and insured?: If the answer is “no” to any of these essentials, you can cross that electrician off your list. You contractor should be able to demonstrate that they are adhering to state and local laws and that their work is up to code. Additionally, if any worker is injured on the job, you don’t want that to come back on you and your insurance policy for your home or business.
- How long have they been in business?: If the contractor hasn’t been in business long, it may be more difficult to determine their reliability or to know much of anything about their reputation, work ethic and quality. While their may be some good startups out there, working with an established local business will give you more peace of mind that the job will be done correctly, safely and efficiently.
- Do they have solid references?: Can the electrician offer numerous local references? Are their references reputable? Hearing from other homeowners or business owners who have worked with the electrician or contracting company can help you learn more about how they work and what you can expect from that professional relationship.
Whoever you choose, be sure to do your research and select a contractor you can rely on to do an excellent job for you and your project!
